Ashton on Mersey came up short in their vital clash on the road at Cheadle Hulme.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Ashton began well without getting fully on top of the home bowling. Whilst all of the top order batters got starts, none of them were able to go on to make the big score that would have shifted the game in Ashton’s favour. The home bowling was accurate enough on a pitch that gave help, and Ashton lost wickets trying to up the run rate. The final total of 166 seemed below par, although it gave Ashton something to defend. The hosts batted sensibly, knowing their target and with Oliver Willett and Adam Wilde taking control, the game drifted away from Ashton.  Willett went for 54 but Wilde steered the hosts home by 6 wickets, remaining unbeaten on 76. The loss keeps Ashton at the foot of the table, with the next three weeks now vital for any chance of survival in the Division. The Ashton 2nd XI delivered an emphatic win against Stockport at The Beets. Ashton 197 (Sam Thoburn 85, Finn Coburn 40) Stockport 56 all out (Max Lilley 3-6, Joe Middleton 3-11). The 3rd XI lost a close game at Cheadle. Cheadle 175-9 (Hamza Rais 76, Finn Coburn 6-50). Ashton 160 all out (Finn Coburn 53).   Pictured James Marshall bats  Charlie Eaton bowls

Tommy, our beautiful five-year-old boy has already overcome cancer twice with extraordinary courage and bravery. Now, as he faces it for the third time, we’re fundraising to access treatment abroad to give him every chance to beat this. 🌈 _______ 🌈 Tommy’s Journey – Fighting Cancer for the Third Time Tommy is an absolutely beautiful, bright, funny, and joyful 5-year-old who loves rainbows, cars, football & fully takes advantage of being the youngest of 5 siblings. He lives in Sale, on the outskirts of Manchester. Tommy’s smile is magnetic, his spirit is fierce, and he brings light and laughter wherever he goes. To meet him, you’d never guess the battles he’s already faced ,not once, but three times. At just 2 years old, Tommy was diagnosed with Wilms tumour, a rare kidney cancer. He went through treatment: chemo, surgery, countless hospital visits…and he did it all with strength and his beautiful smile. He rang the end-of-treatment bell in November 2022, and we truly believed that chapter was closed.
