The Sound Machines are an extremely popular (and hard to book!) local band who specialise in Indie and Britpop classics. They really are fabulous and everyone is always keen to listen and dance to them! When? Come and join us on Saturday 5th July and party the night away on our lovely fairy-lit terrace. What time? Doors open at 7pm. Band from 8pm. Ends at midnight. How much is it? £7.50 per person. You can buy a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) for £30. Is there any food? Yes, food will be available to buy on the night from Thyme & Season Catering Anything else? The event isn’t strictly over 18 but nor is it a ‘childrens’ event, as such. All children must be accompanied by an adult and parents are reminded that though the club is safe and welcoming, they are responsible for their child’s behaviour and treatment of club property. Bring some friends, grab your dancing shoes (or converse trainers!) and have some fun! We bet that you look good on the dance floor! Zaheer Khan bowls

Ashton on Mersey CC 1st XI  90-3

Cheshire County Cricket League Division 2 Ashton on Mersey CC 1st XI  90-3 Beat Ashley CC 1st XI 86 all out Zaheer Khan bowls Ashton recorded a comfortable and important victory as they strolled to a seven wicket win away at Ashley. Winning the toss and electing to bowl, Ashton had early success as the opening attack of Fraser Hay and James Marshall took top order wickets thanks to accurate bowling and safe hands that took the catches offered. Any spark of resistance was snuffed out by a fine spell by Kris Green whose nagging overs strangled the run rate. With spinners Zaheer Khan (4-16)  and Mark Weighill both finding success, Ashley collapsed to a disappointing 86 all out. In reply Ashton batted cautiously, knowing the importance of the victory. Dave Patterson’s 37 was the bedrock on which the innings was built, and he remained undefeated as Ashton cantered over the line with overs to spare. This was an important result for Ashton as they fight to avoid getting dragged into a relegation dogfight. The league remains tight with seven games to go, as all teams from 5th to 12th place in danger of the drop. Ashton’s 2nd XI produced a fine batting display to overwhelm Neston at The Beets. Ashton 321-8 (Finn Coburn 88 no, Yousuf Bhamjee 53, David Young 4-50) Neston 144 all out. Ashton’s 3rd team fared less well in their game at Trafford MV. TMV 180-9 (Shalilesh Nallagonda 61 ) Ashton 116 all out (Mangdesh Deore 5-19) Dave Patterson bats
